Current Make Up Routine

This is the first Make Up Routine post on this blog, so I apologize in advance if the layout isn’t perfect yet. I am still finding my style when it comes to writing and the layout for the posts. Well let’s just begin with the post itself.

Photo 28-07-16 12 40 59 PM

I always start my make up by applying the Nivea Men Sensitive After Shave Balm as a primer. All you have to do is take a really small amount and rub that into your face, just like a moisturizer until it gets a little sticky. And that’s when you know that your face is ready for the rest of your make up.

Photo 28-07-16 12 41 14 PMThen I apply my Catrice All Matt Plus foundaton in the shade 010 light beige with my Realtechniques Miracle Complexion Sponge by putting some of the foundation on the back of my hand. I pick a little up with my sponge and buff it into my skin until I have the desired coverage and finish. The Realtechniques Sponge is amazing to apply your foundation with, I even prefer it over the Beauty Blender.

Photo 28-07-16 12 41 27 PMNow I am using a product that I never used before, so this is going to be my first impression. I am talking about the P2 Mattifying Perfection Concealer in the lightest shade. I apply this under my eyes, the tip and bridge of my nose, my forehead, my chin and on my cupids bow to highlight those areas and get a little more extra coverage. This concealer works fine, but is not my favorite. If you want to have a good but inexpensive concealer then I recommend the Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer, which is much better in coverage and it doesn’t emphasis dry patches on your skin.

Photo 28-07-16 12 42 11 PMPhoto 28-07-16 1 19 36 PM

Let’s get to setting my face, for this I am using the banana and the light setting shade from the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette. The banana shade is perfect for setting the under eyes, I buff that in with my RealTechniques Sponge to get my desired effect. Then I am using Luvia Bamboo’s Root Brush #XI to apply the light setting powder all over my face, to mattify my foundation and get a bit more coverage.

Photo 28-07-16 1 25 44 PMNow it’s time for conturing, which is with highlighting my favorite part of my whole make up routine. I am using the almost empty shade out of my NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette because it’s a nice cool toned brown, so perfect for contouring. I apply this with my Luvia Bamboo’s Root Brush #X on the hallows of my cheeks and then I use the big fan brush out of my No Name Brush Set to apply the same shade on my forehead, my temples and of course also under my chin, to get the effect of a nicer jawline.

Photo 28-07-16 1 32 31 PMMy least favorite part of my make up routine is doing my eyebrows, but I still do them. Not on a daily basis though, sometimes I just feel like giving my eyebrows some love as well. First I am outlining my eyebrows using the Maybelline New York Browsatin in the shade medium brown. I also fil in my eyeborwos with that, even though I barely need it since my eyebrows are already pretty good. Lastly I am setting my eyebrows using my Alverde Eyebrow Gel in taupe.

Photo 28-07-16 12 43 09 PMI do not use eyeshadow on the daily, but I can’t go without mascara because I am the big lashes kind of girl. To me lashes make the perfect look, so I am always on the search for a good mascara. I use the P2 Valume Affair for my upper lashes and a No Name Mascara for my bottom lashes, I wish I knew what mascara it is but the sticker with the brand on isn’t on the product anymore and I couldn’t seem to find the same bottle anywhere. But these two are the perfect team, loving the effect they have.

Photo 28-07-16 1 42 40 PMNow to the favorite part of any make up routine, Highlighting. I am lately really obsessed with highlight, I can’t tell you why but I love having the glow of a goddess. Therefor I use my Hidden Cosmetics Gatsby Highlight. I use my No Name brush from the ebay set to apply te highlighter on the apples of my cheek, under my eyebrows, the inner corner of my eyes, the tip as well as the bride of my nose and on my cupids bow. Just on every place I want to glow.

Photo 28-07-16 12 52 14 PMPhoto 28-07-16 12 52 33 PMPhoto 28-07-16 12 52 43 PMI  do not wear that much make up on the daily basis, but today I am going to have a wifey day with Sarah, whom I talked about it my last post. So I decided to glam myself up a little. I might not always wear make up but I am obsessed with it, I love glaming up for a reason but I do not need make up to feel pretty and I hope it’s the same for you guys. Make up can obviously make your beauty shine a little more but no matter what, you are beautiful.

I hope you guys liked this post, any request for a new make up look? Maybe Date Night or anything like that. Leave suggestions, advice and feedback in the comments down below or leave me an e-mail with all that. The quality of my make up pictures isn’t the best yet, but I am working on it. What is your go-to Make up routine? Let me know.

In love,

I quickly want to apologize for not posting for a whole week, this won’t happen again I promise.
Anyway, I decided to start a series where I talk about topics that are really close to my heart. Some of them are pretty sad and some are uplifting and happy. I don’t know how I want to call this series yet, but we’ll find a name. You can leave suggestions in the comments or let me know by sending me an e-mail. But for now, let’s just dive into the first topic.

You’re probably wondering why I want to talk about Cyberfriendship today, but this topic is something close to my heart since I got so many of those friendships in my life. The main reason I felt like I want to talk about it, are the people that say “friendships on the internet aren’t real friendships”.
To be honest it makes me real mad when I hear people say that to others or when they say it to me. I developed so many amazing friendships on the internet and I am closer to some of them than I ever was with someone that lived nearby. So I might get a little defensive when I hear people say sh** like that.

Photo 17-06-16 9 59 52 PM

Like I said I feel a lot closer to some of my internet friends than I ever could to someone I met in real life first and there are many reasons why I do. But the main reason is that I got to know those people without seeing their face first. I didn’t know how some of them looked like for the first few months/years of the friendship and that made me really develop a friendship with their character and not their appearence. Now I know how they look like and I even met most of them.
It’s rare to have a person that you can talk to about everything and I got blessed to meet such people, thanks to the interwebs.
I know some of my Cyberfriends for over 7 years now and I am still in daily contact with my wifey, for example. Yup, you heard right me and Sarah call each other wifeys because we are really damn close. We talk daily with by sending 5-10 minutes voice mails back and forth and now see each other almost weekly.
But for the first years we couldn’t see each other as much as we do now and still I felt the more comfortable talking to her about everything than I ever would with my friends that live nearby.

I think that Cyberfriendships are more likely to be real friendships without drama, backstabbing or anything like that. Sure there are also real friendships that met outside of the interwebs, but that’s my personal experience.
Anyway, do you have any Cyberfriendships, do people also judge yours as not being a real one? Tell me in the comments down below or send me an e-mail regarding that subject. I’d love to hear about your experiences about this. Also don’t forget to subscribe to my blog by using your e-mail.

Top 4 Drugstore Foundations

Today I have my Top 4 Drugstore Foundations for you guys, but I quickly just wanted to say that this list is based of my personal opinion. So maybe some of them won’t work as good for you as they do for me, please keep that in mind whenever I make a post about my favorite make up products or when I post about disappointing ones.
You also need to know about my skin type, since that’s really important when it comes to foundations. I am a dry skin girl, especially my t-zone is as dry as the desert. The funny thing about my skin is, that even though I have dry skin, my face gets really shiny throughout the day, that is why sometimes foundation for dry skin work and sometimes I can also use some that are intended for combo/oily skin.
Anyway, here are my Top 4 Drugstore Foundations.

1. All Matt Plus – Catrice Cosmetics

Photo 07-07-16 7 17 08 PMYou never heard about this foundation? You’re missing out, boo. The All Matt Plus foundation leaves you with a satin-matt finish without exaggerating the dryness of the skin. You can get good medium coverage with this foundation, but even with medium coverage, it’s still really lightweight on your skin. Which is especially amazing in the summer, where you do not want to feel like you are wearing a whole lot on your skin. I’m not sure if this foundation is available in america, but you can probably buy on ebay or any other buying platfrom.
The only thing that bothers me is that they only have 4 different shades which makes it a little hard for some people, especially for dark skinned and really light skinned people.
I personally use the lightest shade which is 010 Light beige.

This foundation retails for 6,49€ in the german drugstore.

2. Indefectible 24H-Matt by L’Oréal Paris

Photo 07-07-16 7 16 55 PMI’m sure that you already read or heard about this foundation, since it’s a really popular one. I actually never thought that I’d be loving this foundation as much as I am since matt ones barely ever work for me, but this has such a flawless finish, even on my really dry skin. This foundation needs to be applied with a damp Beauty Blender to achieve the finish that I want by dabbing the foundation in my skin, because using a brush would only exaggerate the dry patches. This foundation totally lasts for about 24 hours, I’ve been to the club having, sweating my ass off in this BUT my skin looked flawless when I came home. I personally always get a medium to full coverage, that’s why I use this foundation whenever I know that photos will be taken or for special occasions.
Again the only down side is that they also have 4 different shades only. I’m using the lightest shade with is 12 Natural Rose, which might still be too dark for a lot of people. They should really work on getting more shades for most of the drugstore foundations, especially here in germany.

This foundation retails for 12,99€.

3. Fit Me by Maybelline

Photo 07-07-16 7 17 36 PMThis is probably the foundation with the least coverage out of all of them, but this is my go-to summer foundation. I also love to use this when I go for a “no make up”- Look. I know you can get a medium coverage out of this foundation by building it up, but for me the light coverage is enough when I use this. I love how dewy this makes my skin look, because I might love my mattifying foundations, but sometimes I want that healthy dewy finish too. I always feel like I wear no foundation at all, because it’s so lightweight but still making your skin look better. I know that Maybelline came out with more Fit Me foundations but I still didn’t get the chance to buy those in germany, that’s why I did always stick with the original formula.
I’m still not happy with the range of shades that are out there, but maybe that’s just a huge problem in germany since we do not get every shade of the foundations in our store. I had to order mine in the shade 105 on amazon until about a month ago, when Maybelline finally decided to also carry that shade in the german stores.

This foundation retails for 10,99€.

4. Colorstay by Revlon

Photo 07-07-16 7 17 24 PMI love this make up for so many reasons. Firstly, there are two versions of this foundation available, one for Normal/Dry skin, and the other for Combination/Oily skin. I own the formula that is for Normal/Dry skin, which works perfectly fine for me. I heard a lot of people saying, that the Combination/Oily one is better, even for people with dry skin but somehow that never worked for me the way my current one does. This foundation dries really quickly and leaves a satin-matt finish, meaning it controls shine but doesn’t make your face look powdery or flat. It gives you a medium coverage that can easily be built up to a full coverage. Just like the L’Oréal one, this lasts really long. You should never wear a foundation for 24 hours, but I bet that they would easily last for that long without smudging or transfering to clothes or anything else.
This foundation comes in 20 different shades for Combination/Oily skin and 12 shades for Normal/Dry skin, which is amazing for a drug store foundation. Colorstay by Revlon wasn’t sold in germany for a long time, so I had to order mine on amazon but I just found out that the foundation is finally available in germany too. I use this foundation in the shade 150 Buff.

This foundation retails for 18,99€.

Those were my Top 4 Drugstore Foundations, which one of them do you use yourself? What did you think about them? Also I am always on the lookout for new affordable foundations, so maybe tell me about your favorite foundations from the drugstore in the comments down below. And again I am still thankful for all the feedback I can get.

Hidden Cosmetics Highlighter/Viral Highlighter – Review

You never heard about Hidden CosmeticsThis will change in a few minutes. You might recall that one or two months ago, a video where a highlighter was swatched went viral on every social media platform there is. The video got so many views and everyone was desperate to get their hands on the highlighter, myself included. I researched and found the Instagram of the girl that made the highlighter (@beautyby.nk). I want to tell you a little bit about her “shop” before I start the actual review.
Nosheen Khan started making highlighters, which she sold on Instagram. She then had to expand and use the platform Etsy to sell them, since she got way too many direct messages on her personal instagram account. I got myself the highlighter in the shade Gatsby when she restocked on Etsy for the second time, keep in mind all of her highlighters sold out within five minutes. She now has her own website up where she will sell her products once she restocks.
Click here if you’ve never seen the viral video

My personal review

Photo 05-07-16 5 05 02 PMThe highlighter came in the pan only wrapped in bubble wrap with an envelope, but I knew that since she didn’t have her improved own packaging when I placed my order. Her costumer service and the shipping was all over the place, but keep in mind that she did everything on her own, meaning she had NO one working for her. She made the highlighters herself, answered to every message herself and shipped all the products herself, so I wasn’t too mad about it.
I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when I first swatched the product on my arm because I expected the same glow that we all saw in the viral video. But on the face it totally made up for the first impression.

The application is really easy, I take my highlighting brush and smoothly apply Gatsby wherever I want the glow to be. I applied it on my cheeks, under my eyebrow, on the tip of my nose and on my cupids bow. I can tell you that I already LOVE this product, you can go for a really “in your face”-glow or a settle natural glow that looks amazing.

Photo 05-07-16 5 04 12 PM

I’d totally order from Hidden Cosmetics again but I think it would be better to wait a little, since the fonder is still pretty overwhelmed with how many requests there are for her highlighters. So please be patient with her, keep in mind that she now only has two people working for her.
Rating: 4/5

Are you as obsessed with highlighters as I am? If you are, please tell me about your holy grail highlighter in the comments down below. Also please give me feedback if you like my reviews like that or if you want me to organize the post more. I’m still at the beginning and need any feedback I can get.

In love,

Let me introduce myself and the idea for this blog in a quick first post. I’ll start with myself, the person who will run this blog.

My name is Caroll-Ann, a 21 year old make up addict, who loves to share her opinion, reviews and ideas with the whole world. I’m from germany, but this blog will be completely in english. I already have two blogs on tumblr, a main blog (dvlightful) and a seperate blog to give advice to others (advicefvryou). This one will be completely different though.

Photo 20-06-16 9 51 18 PM

I want this blog to be a real beauty/fashion/lifestyle blog. I’ll share the latest trends, product reviews, outfit ideas, my holy grail products and way more with you. I basically want to share my passion for beauty and fashion with all of you.

But this blog isn’t just about me sharing everything with you. I want my readers to have an actual input. I want the comments to be like our little chat corner about the products you love, you want me to test out for you or anything you want to requesr for the future. I’ll appreciate any kind of feedback, keep in mind that I am not a professionell make up artist, so please correct me when I do something wrong in the future. I am still learning a lot about the beauty world, so let’s learn about it all together.
I look forward to many many posts, many discussions in the comments with you guys and a lot of new produts to discover.
